We're Moving to Tour Total Berlin!
It'll come of no surprise that the team at HYGH is rapidly expanding as we build our product and prepare for our pilot program. Thus, we are moving from our Charlottenburg offices to Tour Total next month, near Berlin's Hauptbahnhof.
The award winning 17 story building owes its name to its main tenant the oil company TOTAL, which has set up its headquarters for Germany there. It was designed by architects Barkow Leibinger and meets high sustainability standards in construction and design, and has been officially recognised as a Green Building with a Silver Certificate from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). The building was made from ecologically safe materials including wood from sustainable forestry. Compared to standard construction methods, the building annually saves the energy required to heat about 35 family houses. The precast façade generates a ratio of 60 percent glazed to 40 percent closed surfaces, improving insulation values. This deep façade protects from direct sunlight and also provides a pocket depth in which to integrate retractable louvers for additional sun control.
The ecological construction results in a shortfall of primary energy consumption by around 25%. The facade is 50% from an energetic point of view better than prescribed by the energy saving Regulation (EnEV) for this building. High daylight availability in the workplace also reduces operating costs for electricity. Presence and light sensors round off the concept. There is a photovoltaic system installed on the roof from SunPower, a TOTAL subsidiary.
Tour Total also has more than 90 bicycle stands and rooms for staff facilities. The underground carpark includes connections for charging stations for electric vehicles.
Touring the office, our CTO Stefan, described the new office as "Very HYGH". We'll be joining a range of tenants including rail network operators, British GoAhead Verkehrsgesellschaft, eWings.com, AS24 TANKSERVICE GmbH, and TD Autoservice GmbH. Stay tuned for more news!
